“How long, O Lord?”

I will trust in the Lord at all times, absolutely and unreservedly. (Psalm 62:8) On road trips as a kid I still remember tugging at my mom consistently asking, “How much longer?” I just wanted to get home. I was tired of being cooped up in the car. “Home is where the heart is.” A familiar saying. It hints to an emotional connection, a place of peace and belonging. It’s a place of our deepest affections. Loved ones reside there, comfort and safety. I grew up in a loving home, yet I realize not all of us did, but for sure, we all crave this. Do you tug at the Lord and ask Him, “How much longer?” David cried out, … Continue reading“How long, O Lord?”

“Survey the Record”

Have you ever surveyed the record of God’s rescues? Who were they? It’s the prodigals, adulterers, murderers by words and by sword, the prideful, foolish and rebellious. Those who spit on Him, rejected Him and mocked Him to His face and behind His back. (Matthew 26:67) It’s the ones with regrets and choices that grieve His heart. It’s Us. Praise the Lord that it’s not about our record, it’s about God’s grace and mercy that heals. What’s your record look like? Where are you living right … Continue reading“Survey the Record”

“Dead End Hope”

Was it the incoming text from a friend reminding me of God’s unchanging love? Or was it the song I had just sung out loud that cut the air and dismantled the lies? One thing I’m certain of, this view took my breath away, this truth trumped the moment and remains, and it’s not just extended to me. I saw the sign, “dead end.” Yet, when I came around the corner and got there, I found an unexpected view waiting. It wasn’t a dead end after … Continue reading“Dead End Hope”

“We’re Exclusive”

Fasten Me as a seal of fire over your entire being, exclusive and unrelenting, forevermore. (Song of Songs 8:6) “We’re exclusive.” Back in the day, this was the mark of a serious relationship. It was clear that the two were in hot pursuit of each other. They were an item, not to be shared with anyone else, entirely committed. The Voice of Perfect love urges us to set a seal over our hearts and minds. No intruders allowed. A seal puts up intentional barriers, allowing nothing incompatible to enter in. So many distractions knock at the door of our hearts. Can I get a witness? So it’s good to ask ourselves; Is the seal set? Is my barrier weak or … Continue reading“We’re Exclusive”
