“Devoted To Devouring”

Posted on

“When I discovered Your words, I devoured them.” (Jer 15:16)

Texting with my husband about transplanting things in our yard, my message came through,
“We’ll get feed to place in the “soul” to assure it’ll thrive.”

I paused and counted it for what it was, a holy interruption.

I thought about the seeds that Jesus throws out in ample supply. How He taught about them; depicting how some land and produce nothing, and others sprout up quickly, but are scorched by the worries of this life.

Yet, He spoke of how when seed falls on good soil, it produces a harvest. (Matt 13:2-9)

The seed, His Word. The soil, our hearts. The yield, all dependent on our heart’s reception to the seed. (Matthew 13:19-23)

Consider the harvest.

A harvest of hope, love, peace and promise can thrive in heartache, hardship and worry.

Have you discovered His Words? Seen this harvest? Isn’t this our heart’s longing?

Turn over the soil of your soul with me. Keep your heart soft and receptive.

Don’t give up feeding the ground and weeding the worries.

Be devoted to devouring the Lord’s promises. Let your soul thrive.

Jesus taught, the seed that falls on good soil, produces a crop in immense measure, settling the soul through all seasons. (Matt 13:2-9) paraphrase

Your words are our joy, our heart’s delight and our defense, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies.
(Jer 15‬:‭16‬) Keep our hearts soft and our assurance firm as we trust in You. Amen & Alleluia.
