Head Games, Tighten Up

Is it not laid out, right there in God’s Word? The promise for abundant life in the same sentence as the promise that the thief will come to steal, kill and destroy the abundant life. (John 10:10) Whoa! Head games are part of the journey. Can I get a witness? Dang if our adversary isn’t slick. Just pause and take inventory now. What do you find? Seriously, we must be keenly aware to not get trapped, tripped up, taken down and out. He is a creep and he creeps his way into our thinking.
It’s no wonder we are given a helmet to cover our thoughts. (Ephesians 6:17). I recently had the image of myself with the helmet on, yet it was wobbly, the chin strap was loose. It was a sure call to tighten up!.
What if we were to hold to this image? What if we could “keep checking our chin straps”? Be sure they are tightened. Do you know about this helmet? Is yours on? Check. Is it tightly fitted?
I pulled mine tight just now as I read from Isaiah 54:17. Go here with me. “No weapon formed against you will prosper.” (no false thought, no trap set up by the thief) “None will prevail against you. You will refute every tongue that accuses you.” (You will take inventory, tighten your chin strap and speak the truth right back at him!) “This, this is the heritage of the servants of the Lord.”
Our heritage. Our inheritance. Our possession. A helmet. Given to cover the abundant life of our salvation. Who doesn’t want an abundant life? It’ll cost us our minds. We must keep a snug helmet and a heart filled with God’s Holy Word. Let’s fight the head games together. Tighten up!
Amen & Alleulia.

Lord, assist us to continually tighten up so that we can walk in the abundant life that You promise.
Thank you for Your every promise to refute the untruths.

Before we close out. Lay your head here.
Good Shepherd, take my lost thoughts, pull me tight to Your chest and allow me to hear Your heart that beats for me as I walk each step today. I am leaning Lord. Leaning on you. Help me stay here.
