“Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)
“Curated Interiors.” The name of this overpriced home decorating store struck me.
In years past, I would’ve hit the brakes and gone inside, but I drove past.
I thought of all the times I chased decorating the interior of my home like it was my full time job and what I’ve learned since about the better kind of renovation.
Curated involves expert oversight and direction, thoughtfully organized, sovereignly governed.
Changing the interior of our minds is a full time job. It needs oversight. It needs governing.
Our interiors are always being threatened.
“The enemy crouches at the door of our hearts and minds.” (Genesis 4:7) He wants in. He wants to intrude, to trip us up and watch us fall, to have us fret.
I’ve never seen him so slick. Heads are down. People are down. Do you notice? Are you?
The world’s commotion is definitely knocking hard, but it doesn’t have to knock us over.
Are you ready for a change? Is your interior filled with fear and unable to settle?
Upon asking the Lord how to navigate the times we’re living in, I heard a clear answer.
“Plant yourself by streams of living water.” (Psalm 1) “Guard your heart with diligence.”(Proverbs 4:23)
This, no doubt, is His expert oversight and direction.
We need less of the world, and more time soaking by the streams.
Our minds won’t settle, until we settle our souls on Jesus.
Are you planted by streams of living water or planted more in the world’s unstable answers?
“What delight comes to the one who remains planted by living streams, deeply rooted in sound truth, by the brooks of bliss. He will stand firm like a flourishing tree, bearing fruit in every season of life; not overwhelmed by the world, nor worried or panicked, never dry, never fainting, but ever blessed, ever prosperous, and at peace. (Psalms 1:1-3) paraphrase
This is the renovation we long for, and it’s available. Run to the streams!
We Hear the Sound Of Heaven by the streams. Here’s a pick me up, if you need it, that’ll help carry you there! Alleluia, thank you Jesus! By: Danny Gokey
