I’ll never forget my Dad telling me, “Hold your shoulders back.” For days I concentrated on it. I remember it felt so uncomfortable at first, yet, eventually it became natural, my shoulders aligned upright.
Our ABBA Father tells us the same, for we all have a tendency to slump in our heart posture.
We have to concentrate to stay standing upright. We have to be set on it.
We have to be set on “heart resets,” I call them. With intention and attention.
I’ve been studying the heroes that came before us. (Hebrews 11) They were controlled and sustained by their faith.
Take note: It was by uncomfortable circumstances and in unfamiliar territory that their conviction was made clear. Their faith was tried and proven, for this is how it goes.
Our soul’s victory isn’t defined by a life of ease, but one of increasing trust and worship in the face of every obstacle, every mystery.
This is what the Lord is going for, our shoulders back, in confident assurance and with giddy expectation.
The more we do it, the more natural it will become.
Apply the remedy that restores the soul. Intentionally reset your heart ongoing. Keep your shoulders back.

In every high and every low. Oh, how sweet the song that never ends.
“Faith is the assurance of things we do not see, the conviction of their reality.” (Hebrews 11:1)
