“A Public Spectacle”

Posted on

Though many disregarded Christ as King, spit in His face and devalued His Words and claims, He proved His providence and made a public spectacle when He rose from the grave.

No, we weren’t there, but then again, we were. For “we” were on the heart of Jesus when He choose the cross for our redemption and eternal security.

The public watched His death. They heard His just cries, “Forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

Were they paying attention when He said, “It is finished”? (Luke 23:34, John 19:30)

Jesus looked finished, but His greatest power was about to be unleashed. His last words pointed to three days later when He rose again!

He finished the power of death.

It was an un-missed public spectacle; a lavish, large scale exhibition. The public response was divided. Some believed, others didn’t and dismissed it.

What do you think? Are you divided?

To know that death has been swallowed up and our eternal life is secure is the Lord’s greatest passion for us as we travel this life.

He will come again proving His providence. He will make a public spectacle of all the evil in our world. It won’t be missed by anyone.

He will deliver from death all who have trusted in His perfect sacrifice. He will restore all things and reign as King forever and ever.

Let these truths conquer your doubts and your purpose.

There’s one thing we need to do. Don’t dismiss it. Take Him at His word, receive His lavish mercy, grow in trust and praise Him without compromise!

“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” It’s conquered! Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭55‬-‭57‬)‭

“Jesus, freely forgiving us, canceled a debt we could never pay, removing it completely, nailing it to the cross, disarming the forces of evil operating against us, making a public spectacle of them when He rose from the grave. He has triumphed over them through the cross.”(Colossians 2:13-15)

Are you a spectator or a believer?

Lord, make a spectacle of any divided thoughts, invade our souls with exceeding joy in Your triumphant rescue. All praise to You who has won us eternal life. How great thou art. Let living hope cast off the darkness, the fear of death run and hide and Your Light shine like a beacon, in us and through us. Jesus, You are the way, the truth & the life, our victory! Amen & Alleluia.

Without the shedding of blood, there’s no forgiveness of sin, and we’ve all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. By faith, we obtain a mercy we don’t deserve and have bold access into His holy presence, now and forevermore. (Heb 9:22, Romans 3:23, Heb 4:16)
