“His counsel overcomes my folly and guides me through the pitfalls.” (Psalm 73:24)
Dust bunnies blow across the floors, small fragments of dirt invade. Sometimes they blend in, other times the mess is obvious, yet always, our hearts and minds need cleansing.
As a teenage girl my room was a disorderly mess. Clothes laid across the floor, bed unmade, makeup mirror open, a heart striving to be accepted.
As a grown woman I see now that my heart was being crowded out by who the world told me I was. The disorder of my room, a visual of how things were on the inside.
Do you think of yourself as you truly are? A living temple. The very place where the living God takes up residency.
Given the chance, the Lord sometimes has to tell me hard things, pointing out the places I’ve left unattended. “His counsel overcomes my folly and guides me through the pitfalls.” (Psalm 73:24)
A pitfall is a hidden danger not easily recognized. He highlights where I lack good sense and foresight. He guides me to the rooms of my heart, uncovers my folly and orchestrates the clean up as I admit my need. He then gives me strength to abandon the things that threaten me.
Will you allow Him access to identify the dust bunnies of folly invading your space?
Friends, we’re accepted. His counsel is for our good. Make a clean break from everything that defiles or distracts, both within & without. For He has foresight & sees hidden dangers we might miss. Let Him in. Be flooded with His light & voice that tells us who we truly are in this world; His beloved; called, sealed, held, treasured, & more than over-comers. Amen & Alleluia. (2 Cor 7:1 personal paraphrase)
