“The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still” (Exodus 14:14) This verse was spoken by Moses to the Israelites, encouraging them to trust in God’s power to deliver them from the pursuing Egyptian army…To be still is to be unmoving, with deep calm. Often pictured as “silent,” yet depicted in scripture as stillness in times of great battle. How can anyone find stillness when pursued by an enemy?
It’s by knowing that He is God.
Just when the Israelites thought it was over, Moses lifted his staff and the waters parted by the power of God. They made it to the other side and the enemy was covered over by the waters and was no more. (Exodus 14:26-28)
To know is to have developed a relationship with someone, familiar and aware of who they are through observation and inquiry. Have we not observed His power? We’re familiar with His faithfulness in our lives. As we inquire of the Lord and hide ourselves in Him, we can have stillness in times of great battle and uncertainty, for we are certain of Him.
“The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress.” “Be still and know that He is God.” He has won the war. He will not fail to deliver us day after day and in the end. (Psalm 46:10,11)
He’s on our side. We’re on His heart.
“Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.” (right now) Be delivered, rest your head upon His chest. This song always calms my heart, the waters part and my soul is delivered unto perfect truth, a stillness that stays…..Be Still By: Steven Curtis Chapman

One day, no more…
“Come, see the glorious works of the Lord: He causes wars to end throughout the earth, breaks the bow and snaps the spear; burns the shields with fire, declaring, “I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” (Exodus 14:8-9)
