This life of faith is not a sprint, but a marathon.
Running the 10K this past weekend, I passed by someone holding a sign, “Pace Be With You.” I couldn’t help but think of the call found in Hebrews 12:1-3 to “Run our race with endurance, to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith.” Only in fixing our eyes and our pace can we keep running this race.
I’ve been needing a new pace and “Morning Whispers” have been coming in for a landing. They help to ready my heart for the day. I thought, what if these morning whispers are not just for me? I pray they’ll land in your inbox and be carried to your soul. I’m sending them with love, inspired by the Voice of Truth.
SOAK OR SINK
Soak by streams of living water. It’s Me, calling you to the brook so I can feed you. Get away from the hurry. It’s here you will find Me faithful and true, instilling every promise deep into your soul. Elijah “got away” with Me. Do the same. Find a quiet spot without distraction. Push pause and drink deeply. Be watered soul deep. Only in this kind of soaking will the worries of this world start to fade away. It’s here I will reestablish your living hope. Soak. I will supply your deepest needs. Come drink in My voice as you rest by streams of living water.
“The word of the Lord came to Elijah: “Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the ravine, east of the Jordan. You’ll drink from the brook. I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there.” (1 Kings 17:2-6)
“The water I give will become in you a spring of water [satisfying your thirst for Me] welling up [continually flowing, bubbling within] to eternal life.” (John 4:14)
Take a long drink and find your pace with the Perfecter.
