I will trust in the Lord at all times, absolutely and unreservedly. (Psalm 62:8)
On road trips as a kid I still remember tugging at my mom consistently asking, “How much longer?” I just wanted to get home. I was tired of being cooped up in the car.
“Home is where the heart is.” A familiar saying. It hints to an emotional connection, a place of peace and belonging. It’s a place of our deepest affections. Loved ones reside there, comfort and safety.
I grew up in a loving home, yet I realize not all of us did, but for sure, we all crave this.
Do you tug at the Lord and ask Him, “How much longer?”
David cried out, “How long, oh Lord?” He was shaking in his soul, struggling with the high chaos that surrounded him, enveloped by struggle and grief. Turmoil whipped hard in his soul and in his reality. (Psalm 13:1-2)
Yet, his question reflects that deep down, He trusts that in time, the Lord WILL come through.
Do you know the Lord will deliver on every promise? He doesn’t mind when we tug at Him and ask Him, “How much longer?”
Where are you on the journey? Like David, our journeys are filled with “all the things.” Life is shaky. We do feel cooped up and crushed, sometimes more than others.
Will we cry out, wrestle through, and in the end say, “I trust you, Lord”?
Eternity is set in the heart of every man for something more. God put it there that we would crave “home,” our eternal address.
Through Christ Jesus, we can rest assured in the reality that “we will get there.” While we wait, our joy is made complete as we learn to trust Him.
He’s our place of peace and belonging, comfort and safety, our shield and our salvation. Risen, reigning and returning.
Let’s be more like David, cry out in complete honesty to the Lord and be expectant that He will come through. (because He will!)
