God’s love language isn’t isolation. The battle is real. His best plan is togetherness.
Exodus 17 speaks volumes to this truth. It’s the Israelites in a full blown battle with the Amalekites. Of course, they’re going for the win. Only when Moses’ hands were lifted was the win evident and in effect. As he tired and they lowered, their opponent gained on them. So his friends Aaron and Hur arranged a place for him to sit and stood at his side holding up his arms when he just couldn’t anymore.
Do you have friends like that? We need them! We’re told to “not give up meeting together, and even MORE as we see the day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25) This world can drain us. We can drift into weary, especially these days. I often need a friend to tell me the truth, to embrace me, to shake me up unto more life, to help me keep my hands lifted when I just can’t anymore.
We’re going for the win. Together is the ticket. Find your people, plant God’s solid promises deep in your soul without compromise, this is our confidence in the battles. (& they always come.)
“Aaron and Hur stood on each side of Moses and held his hands up steady.” (Exodus 17:11-12)
Hear the word of the Lord. “Strengthen your feeble hands, steady your knees that give way; “Be strong, do not fear!” Behold, your God will come, with vengeance; with divine retribution He will come to save you.”(Isaiah 35:3-4) He is in your midst and at your side.
