“The Son of Man will appear to inaugurate His regal reign.” (Matthew 16:28)
Every four years in the U.S., we witness an inauguration of a new president. We’re all are on the edge of our seats wondering how it will all play out. I sat at my desk intently listening as the ceremony unfolded this year. So many words of promise. I was struck as the ceremony took an intentional pause and this song rang out. Did you hear it? The Battle Hymn of The Republic. Do you know that it actually depicts “the inauguration “of Jesus“? Are you familiar with this part of God’s story?
God’s story is always marching on. Not just in the U.S., but in our world. This song is far more than patriotic, it sings of Jesus’ coming to reign as King. He reigns now over a spiritual kingdom that transcends all earthly governments, offering salvation and hope to all who trust in Him. At His return, His authority will be fully seen and realized. He’ll usher in His Kingdom, the one we truly long for, ruling victorious, with justice, bringing an everlasting reign of peace. (Isaiah 9:6) We can forget Part 2 of the story, the best part!
Jesus holds ultimate authority as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He holds the script. Are you holding onto Him?
Every word He says is trustworthy. His story is always unfolding. His kingdom will come.
“Nothing unwashed shall ever enter it, no falsehood, no abominations, nothing that defiles or profanes, only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.” (Revelation 21:27) Amazing Grace how sweet the sound. Jesus washes us white and clothes us with garments of salvation. He covers us with a robe of righteousness and readies us to enter in. (Isaiah 61:10) He is Savior and Victor. Be taken by Him who loves you & me deeply!
May amazing grace be written on us. May we be dressed and ready as we wait for The Day His Kingdom will come, the day His saints go marching in! Glory Hallelujah!
“Be swift my soul to answer Him, be jubilant, my feet,
our God is marching on.”
In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea, with a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me. As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free, while God is marching on.
LISTEN: The Battle Hymn By: Lee Greenwood depicts how it will all play out. We don’t know the day or the hour, but it will come. Can you sing Glory Hallelujah? Trust in the King above all Kings.
