Brevity speaks to briefness of time. Truth is, our days here are short compared to eternity. Isn’t life mysterious? Our world hard to interpret? My head can start to spin. I seek for understanding and wisdom, don’t you? My heart is struck by the Lord’s desires for us. “I desire to teach you, for truth and honesty in your inmost being.” (Psalm 51:6) He wants us so close to His heart, tucked under His wings of refuge continually. He won’t force any of this, but we’re invited.
His wings depict divine protection, shelter, much like a mother bird protecting her young. “He longs to gather us under His wings.” (Matthew 23:37) He weeps at the thought that we’d not be willing. Each time I try to reason on my own or tuck myself under another canopy of protection, my hope and peace flee. To the contrary….
“When I trust in You, I have a strong and glorious presence protecting and anointing me. Forever, You are all I need.” (Psalm 73:26)
