I love placing finishing touches when I decorate. The perfect pillow or lamp. The right piece of art. It creates cohesiveness and a calming atmosphere. The end goal is a warm welcome with an invitation to come in and rest.
I’m so struck by the Lord’s finishing touches in life. Though different than ours, they have the power to yield the same results. Cohesiveness speaks to a holding together. The Lord’s finishing touches are sometimes hard to understand, but given the chance, they are able to create a deeper bond with Him.
I’ve come up against unspeakable circumstances that have rocked me to the core. The most beautiful part is that as I’ve welcomed His touch and haven’t denied His sovereignty, He’s used it all as a glorious finishing touch in my faith walk. It hasn’t come easy, it’s come by a consistent crying out, digging into His Word more than ever, with persistent laying down of what I thought my life was suppose to look like, and picking up His way instead.
Where does life find you?
His every touch is to accomplish an atmosphere of increased trust in our souls. Welcome His touch, seek for a deeper bond and run free under the canopy of His never failing love.
Never ever believe that hard places are a reflection of His absence, embrace them as an opportunity for Him to do a deeper work, far more than you ever realized or imagined. He’s good like this. He deeply loves you and me. We are works in progress held in the hands of a trustworthy, mighty God.
“The Lord is righteous in all His ways and faithful in all He does. The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.” (Psalm 145:17-18) “From everlasting to everlasting He is God.” (Psalm 90:2)
Push pause, now.
