The Holy Alphabet

The holy alphabet rearranges our scarlet letters, transforming our stories into beauty. 

Have you ever played scrabble? You shift around the letters and try to spell legit words. You then lay them out, connecting all the words to each other. Is life kinda like this? We take everything we see and all that we’ve been through, we shift it around to try to make sense of it all. We search for what is legit. We try to put words to it. We try to connect the dots.

The holy shift comes when we lay it all on the table before the Lord and seek the only place that holds the legit answers.

WHAT’S YOUR LETTER?
In the famous novel, The Scarlet Letter, the protagonist has committed adultery, and as a punishment must wear an “A” on her chest to mark her shame. Scarlet letters cover the whole alphabet and more than a few for each letter. Not worn on our chests, but buried in our hearts, they can shame us and make us hide. We all wear them. We make up the alphabet together. So much of the time, we hide our shame, not just from each other, but even from God. What letter do you wear? It’s time we admit them. There’s one letter we need to confront first. P — our pride. It keeps us from humbly coming to the One who is waiting to embrace us with all our letters. Give up your pride. Come as you are. He is able to do more than we ask or imagine! Let the Lord rearrange your letters and spell something altogether different! Saved by grace, redeemed and forgiven.
