Only three were thrown into the fire, but glancing in, the king saw four. (Daniel 3)
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abendego refused to bow to the king, and in his fury he threw them into the a fiery furnace. Do you ever consider our lives like this? A choice of where to bow. In compromise or in confidence?
Jesus warned us to not compromise our faith, but to stand firm to the end. Jesus IS the King who has conquered. Our adversary will try to taunt us to bow out and trade in our faith due to fear or compromise. Or to bow out in doubt when heartache hits or deep pain visits. Yet, remaining faithful, Jesus promises to deliver us through the fire. To stay in it with us. To use it to refine us, that our faith might prove genuine and He might prove His presence. We come out as gold because there’s another with us in the fire. (Job 23:10)
Is the fire hot in your life? The furnace of suffering and trial seem so agonizing? Refuse to bow out. There’s The King at whose feet we can bow. Who is never out to hurt us. He wastes nothing. Our eternal inheritance that can never spoil, fade or perish, it is kept through the fire and fury of our everything by Jesus the King. (1 Peter 1:3-5)
We can bow at the feet of Jesus in confidence. He’s with us in the fire. He’s the Refiner and Keeper of our souls.
“In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 1:6-7)
