I hated getting up on school days. My brother would come in and he would flip the light switch on and off repeating over and over “It’s time to get up Lori, it’s time to get up!” I’d pull the covers up over my head and keep snoozing. Yet, he was persistent until he saw that I was up and awake.
I picture Jesus flipping the switch when He arrived here and every Word He spoke and left with us as our continual wake up call. I think I see Him standing closer now, with persistence, not just to wake us up, but to be alert and get dressed.
Could it be that we have to make the choice ongoing to take the covers off from over our heads? We can’t be in the light if we’re not in God‘s Word. We might be in the dark and not even know it. Are we asking for guidance, are we asking for the truth? I have found that He is okay with us begging for it. (James 1:5) I sense more than ever that we must be.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (James 1:5) (He will spotlight the truth, bring His wisdom to trump the darkness and help us overcome the world as we anticipate His return.)
“The hour has come for you to wake up for salvation is nearer to us now. The Day is at hand.
Cast off darkness and put on the armor of Light.” (Romans 13:11-12)
Are we dressed in His light? Are we leaning super hard into the Lord? He will help us. He will wake us with His truth and cover us with His light.
Lord, we thank you that You don’t get tired of teaching us and covering us,
guiding us and loving us with the truth.
Amen & Alleluia.
Beautiful reminder
He is faithful.
