One Fish

Posted on

See the feet in this picture? They are mine. This picture I took intentionally to not forget. As this dead fish sloshed up on the beach it got my attention and stole my heart. Does everyone get the urge to cry when a dead fish rolls up on the sandy shore? Y’all, I must confess, I got a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat. Why? Because it made me think of Jesus who left the ninety-nine sheep to rescue the “one” sheep who was dying. The sheep who was wandering and unaware of his condition. (Matthew 18:12-14)

Is there any coincidence that Jesus tells his disciples to be fishers of men? As I wept that day with the one dead fish at my feet, I whispered, “Send me.” (Matthew 4:19)

I’m well aware of my condition apart from Christ. I’d be a dead fish without His saving grace and mercy. I’m so thankful someone came fishing for me. I’m still learning how to fish. I “get to” go fishing in the deep waters and it’s all about one fish. I didn’t plan on fishing here, but it’s not about me. I can’t stand on the shore anymore.

Y’all, we are offered a beautiful abundant life! Jesus loves us like crazy. He doesn’t want to leave us swimming in hopelessness but to bring us into the living waters. He’s rescued my heart and He desires to take us all in.
Are you a fish caught in the net of the abundant life in Christ Jesus?

May we be caught, stay caught and swim and fish in the deep. Amen & Alleluia.
Jesus said, “Now row out to the deep water, cast your nets and you will have a great catch.” Luke 5:4
“Jesus rejoices over just one “fish” being caught.”
(Matthew 18:13)
PS After writing this blog, I left for a morning walk and the first person I passed wore a t-shirt that read, “I love fishing.” No joke! Come on y’all, Jesus deeply loves us.
