It matters where we fix our gaze. I am preaching to the choir. It happens so fast that we can get caught in staring in the wrong direction. Comparison started for me at an early age. I can still remember trying to copy the most popular girl in middle school. Is it the same for everyone? Did you start early too? Why do we do it? It wasn’t good then and it’s no good now.
I can’t help but think of how the Lord made us so individual. Just pause now and peek at your fingerprint, it screams this truth! Nobody compares to you or me. There is none like us in all the world. We were each made with intention and purpose. Each one of us is counted priceless. Let that sink in.
So, I have to ask, did you every have a staring contest? I can remember staring so hard that my eyes would water and burn so bad. I was so determined to win. I am convinced that if we choose to gaze at Jesus with this kind of determination, we will win! We will win in our hearts and minds, our vision really will become clearer and we will walk into more abundant life.
Let us throw off the sin that so easily entangles (all the stuff that trips us up)
and let us fix our eyes (stare) on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.
(the Creator of our fingerprint, Savior and cheerleader who is for us!) (Hebrews 12:2)
