Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. We are familiar with the song, but do we rest in this word? A wretch? Whoa! Do we realize what we’re admitting? We are saying we are messy miserable rascals apart from Jesus. This song goes far, deep and wide. I am captivated by what this is saying and what this is inviting us into. Admitting who we are so that we can receive who He is. Mighty to save, full of grace, faithful and merciful Father. When we see that we are a wretch, we can see His Amazing Grace! With the backdrop of our depravity, we sing in vivid color. Our hearts then echo the deep cry, deeper still…so amazing is His grace that saved a wretch like “me.” Who ever thought that the sound of grace could be so rich? A diamond exposed in weakness and humility ~ ours and His. Lost, but now found, is the one who steps out and undresses their soul.
Amazing grace how sweet the sound ~
