Soft Sunrise

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
(Psalm 51:10)

The sun had yet come up and we sat on the screened porch listening to the morning songs. We were waking up to a new day. As we grabbed hands, my husband prayed first. I hung on his words as he voiced, “Keep our hearts soft.”

I remember days gone by. I was entertained for big chunks of time when given a small handful of playdough. We’re all familiar with playdough and I think we’re also aware of how it can become hard and crumbly.

~ Only soft hearts can be molded and penetrated.

Yes Lord, keep us soft, mold us and make us. Renew us morning by morning. Amen.
