Over It

“Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in You.
Show me the way I should go,
for to You I entrust my life.”

(Psalm 143:8)

Have you ever spilled your coffee on the way out the door? Or stubbed your toe at the crack of dawn? Next thing that comes out of your mouth or into your thoughts is, “It’s gonna’ be an awful day.” As if to say-––“It’s over, today is gonna’ be flat out terrible.”

I woke up on the wrong side of the bed the other morning, didn’t spill or stub anything, but my mood was far from cheery and bright and I already felt like throwing in the towel. The skies were overcast and I felt over it, tired and drained before I even got started.

I needed a fresh something to think on. Maybe I could call a friend and they’d bring me a good word to lift my spirits, but it was way too early for that.

Only one friend was up and so I called on Him. He answered and rescued my mindset, landing me in a much better place.

He brought me word of His unfailing love.

Do you need a word too?

Don’t throw in the towel, instead, spill the beans in honesty and throw off your mood. He has the right word for whatever side of the bed you get up on!

It’s not over. He’s over it all!

Everlasting Lord, every morning the skies proclaim Your new mercies and You invite us to take Your hand. We can always count on You to bring us word of Your unfailing love and to show us the way. You trump spilled coffee and stubbed toes. You rescue overcast and bring sunshine! Amen.
