““Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. What a blessing was that stillness as He brought them safely into harbor!”
(Psalm 107:28-30)
At night I like to use this app on my phone that puts a soothing sound into the room that lulls me to sleep. I tap the button and the noise comes on. I turn off the light and it rocks me to sleep.
My choice noise is called “storm“.
As I tapped the button the other night, I thought of all the storms I never would have chosen in my life, but have poured down.
In each storm He chose me. Through my tears and sleepless nights, He chose to calm me and help me through.
Was it the storms of marriage? Or the heavy rains that fell from heavy hearts for our children? Or the torrential downpours that left me soaked in sadness and covered in worry?
No matter the storms, He’s never left my side. I wouldn’t choose them, but they have certainly brought me to Him.
Are you in a storm?
Storms come and go. He always stays. He never leaves. ~Lori
Lord, in the storms, it’s easy to think that You have abandoned us, but You want to meet us there. We don’t invite cloudy days, but You invite us to trust You in them. Clear our skies and bring the blue and then show us that You were with us all along. Amen.
