Gone Fishin’

“Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.”

(John 21:6)

How did my line end up over here? I don’t remember putting my line in on this side of the boat. I’m grumpy and irritable. No fish are biting, in fact, they all swam away.

I’ve caught plenty of tree limbs on banks and seaweed on the bottom when fishing, breaking off my line. I can get caught in the branches of moodiness as well. Can’t you relate?

I’m thinking it’s time to get out of this moody mess, cut this line and move to the other side of the boat.

Guess what? The fish are swimming over here. I didn’t chase them away, in fact, I was able to catch many in my net of love and grace.

Thank the Lord that when He invited us to go fishing, He faithfully taught us where to place our nets.

May we cut all lines that get caught up in the branches of self-absorption and messy moods and stay on the right side of the boat–– We will be sure to catch a much better day out on the water!

Want to go fishing?

Lord, we are fishing for trouble when we get caught up in ourselves and our moods and You know it. You are in the boat to help us in every way, to fill our hearts and our nets. May we cut our lines, make a move, and tie ourselves to You. Amen.
