Count On It

“What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.”

(Matthew 18:12-14)

I can remember when I first learned to count. It started with counting stairs and moved into covering my eyes and counting during hide and seek. All the way up to 100 was a huge accomplishment.

God is good at counting too. He can count far better and much higher, however, He always gets stuck on “one.”

He keeps a count and keeps a careful watch. He’s not willing to let any “one” wander off.

I know. I wandered and He came and found me.

If you’ve wandered, don’t wonder–– know He still loves you. ~Lori

Truly I tell you, He’s stuck on “one”––and that someone is you!

Lord, we are all wanderers and You are far more wonderful than we can begin to grasp. You come looking for the us when we get lost, tenderly sweeping us up into your arms of grace, You joyfully carry us back to Your fold. You truly are The Good Shepherd. There is only One like You! May we count on You always. Amen.
