Hard Place

“There is no Rock like our God.”

(1 Samuel 2:2)

“Stuck between a rock and a hard place.”

Are you stuck?

It might be that you are in a relational struggle, or something at work, or in your family there is something super challenging, or a tough decision might be weighing on your mind. The list goes on and on, and the truth is, we all find ourselves in hard places.

I felt stuck recently and it felt inescapable as I sat in a place of indecision. I went back-and-forth and couldn’t budge an inch. It only seemed to get harder. I’ve sat in other struggles and felt the same way, completely stuck.

I have learned a truth that I constantly have to apply.

When stuck between a rock and a hard place, I can stare at the hard place or I can turn and run to The Rock.

Choosing to turn toward The Rock, I always find that the hard place then becomes not as hard.

“Rock of Ages cleft for me let me hide myself in thee.” The words in this beautiful hymn really say at all.

Hard places and hard choices are part of life.
When we don’t run to The Rock, hard places become harder.

RUN TO THE ROCK!

Lord, You are our protection and our fortress. You lead, guide and keep us. (Psalm 31) May we turn to You in good times and in hard places. May we be stuck on You. Amen.
